The energetic and highly successful event was co-sponsored by Assemblymembers Brian Jones and Brian Maienschein, San Diego County Supervisor Dave Roberts, Poway Mayor Steve Vaus, and the Small Business Development Center. Attentive participants took full advantage of the free resources and information available to help their businesses succeed in the Golden State.

Diane attended the 20th annual “Golden Watchdog and Fleece Awards” dinner hosted by the San Diego Taxpayers Association. This year’s theme was “Totally 90”s and a series of humorous video clips were produced for the enjoyment of the attendees. Diane joined in on the fun in this parody Mentos commercial.
This tongue-and-cheek event highlights the important issues affecting residents of San Diego by commending effective policies and admonishing inefficient spending of taxpayer dollars. It is a reminder to elected officials and organizations that their number one priority is representing the interests of taxpayers throughout the county. The San Diego Taxpayers Association deserves a great deal of thanks for hosting this event. They are responsible for saving taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars during their six decades of advocacy work.
Also in attendance were many elected officials such as Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer and former interim Mayor and Councilmember Todd Gloria. As San Diego’s taxpayer representative on the Board of Equalization, Diane is working to make sure every taxpayer has a voice in state government and that our elected officials are pushing for policies that allow for job growth, a healthier economy and more opportunities for everyone.
