By Clare Michal

Tacos El Gordo de Tijuana B.C has been a Chula Vista tradition since 1998. Tacos El Gordo opened their first location 40 years ago and the Chula Vista store is their second location.

With lines out the door all day it’s no surprise that this restaurant is one of the highest rated restaurants in San Diego. They specialize in pork, beef, and lengua taco. Each meat is cut to order and tacos are assembled behind a counter as you watch. They also serve Quesadillas, Sopes, and a specialty called Mulas which is meat, cheese, and avocado served between two tortillas. Additionally they give out steamed green onions for you to snack on while you wait for your tacos.

Tacos El Gordo has two locations in San Diego County and two locations in Las Vegas, NV making it one of the golden small businesses in the fourth district.
