San Diego SBDC Helping Grown Small Businesses & Add Jobs

On Friday, September 25th, North San Diego Small Business Development Center (SBDC) hosted the “Meet the Buyers” Tour which brought buyers and small business advocates from agencies and large corporations together to advise small businesses about the complex demands of the competitive market. The event included speakers such as Assembly Member Rocky Chavez, Carlsbad Chamber CEO Ted Owen, and Member Diane Harkey’s District Director Jordan Marks.

District Director Jordan Marks informs small business owners of how the State Board of Equalization can help them.


The event was held in Dove Library in Carlsbad and had a wonderful turnout with 2112 of attendees. Thank you to SBDC’s Director Sudershan Shaunak, and Lynn Pittman for organizing the workshop and congratulations to SBDC for such a successful event.

Since January of this year, SBDC has:

  • Created or retained over 140 jobs
  • Generated $15.5 million in revenue increases
  • Facilitated companies garnering over $29 million in contracts
  • Helped create 34 new businesses.
Full audience interested in learning about various business opportunities.

These workshops are an excellent way for business owners to increase their knowledge on California tax laws and take advantage of the opportunities and rights entitled to them.
