Board of Equalization (BOE) 4th District Member Diane L. Harkey hosted a free “Sales & Use Tax” workshop to help new and small business owners understand California’s tax system.
Attendees at the Fullerton Public Library learned the basics of state tax law, as well as the requirements for record keeping, filing and paying taxes. The 73 guests were given useful reference guides that explained the many services available to businesses through the BOE.
Special guest, Assemblywoman Young Kim, of the 65th Assembly District also spoke to the packed room about the importance of small businesses for California’s economy and the recent state legislation that would have impact on their operations. Assemblywoman Kim announced that she would be holding a Job Fair on January 22 from 10am – 2pm at the Fullerton Event Center where business owners could showcase their business and would be provided an opportunity to meet with potential employees.
Member Harkey is committed to supporting business, and strengthening California’s economy by scheduling workshops that contribute to developing informed business owners and leaders.
