State Board of Equalization (BOE) 4th District Member Diane L. Harkey recently sponsored a “Sales & Use Tax for Photography Businesses” workshop in Riverside County to help photographers understand the tax rules related to this industry.
The fifteen shutterbugs learned about tangable sales, digital sales, labor charges, delivery charges, seller’s permits, resale certificates, and how sales tax applies to general photographic and commercial photographic sales. To find detailed information about the tax regulations related to photographers, and photography businesses, check out BOE Publication 68: Photographers, Photo Finishers, and Film Processing Laboratories.
Member Harkey is committed to supporting business, and strengthening California’s economy by scheduling workshops that contribute to developing informed business owners and leaders.
Riverside County photographers listen as BOE Information Officer Lance Christiansen explains the sales & use tax rules for imaging businesses.
The BOE offers several workshops to explain the complexities of California’s Sales Tax regulations, file timely and accurate returns, and learn about exemptions and deductions. Visit the Small Business Fair Schedule for a calendar of BOE workshops, and to register online.
