By Irma Livadic

Earlier this June, the San Diego Center for Children held its 129th Anniversary Celebration, successfully raising $360,000 for over 1,000 children and families in the San Diego community. At this celebration, Susie Sides and Jim Avery, two passionate and committed volunteers, received this year’s PATH Award – “Partner in Achieving Transformation and Hope.”

San Diego City Councilmember Lorie Zapf, also introduced a City Council Proclamation proclaiming June 2, 2016, as Susie Sides and Jim Avery Day to recognize the amazing contributions Sides and Avery have made to the Center. Zapf also honored the achievements of the San Diego Center for Children, an organization that provides therapeutic and educational services to children and their families struggling with mental health challenges. We applaud Zapf’s compassion for supporting children and their families and especially congratulate Sides and Avery on this well-deserved award.
